Empowering Mothers, Nurturing Generations

At the heart of FLEP’s mission is the commitment to improving Maternal and Child Health (MCH) in the Busoga region of Uganda. Through innovative programs, community engagement, and partnerships, FLEP ensures mothers and children receive the care and support they need for healthier lives.

What We Do in MCH

  1. Capacity Building:
    • Trained 25 health workers and Village Health Teams (VHTs) in Human Rights-Based Approaches for maternal and reproductive health services.
  2. Promoting Safe Practices:
    • Advocate for life-saving commodities such as misoprostol and oxytocin to prevent maternal and infant deaths.
    • Ensure access to essential commodities and safe childbirth resources for mothers and infants.
  3. Strengthening Health Systems:
    • Implement projects to enhance accountability among District Health Project Officers for maternal and child health service delivery.
    • Conduct biannual reviews to assess progress in maternal and SRHR service delivery.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Facilitate community dialogues to gather feedback and improve maternal health performance.
    • Empower youth as peer educators and community advocates for better maternal and child health practices.
  5. Youth Empowerment:
    • Engage youth groups in income-generating projects to support economic independence while promoting maternal health awareness.
  6. Service Delivery in Hard-to-Reach Areas:
    • Operate a network of 52 rural health centers, supported by government grants and UPMB, providing essential MCH services to underserved communities.
